Wordpress 2.5 RC2 Sneak Peek Video

You can see a sneak peek video here, featuring the new features in wordpress 2.5 blogging software. If you haven’t got wordpress for your blog, I highly recommend it. I love the software so much I actually use it for non-blog sites too(and modify it to make it not look so much like a blog).
With that said though, 2.3.3 has a couple major exploits people are reporting allowing hackers to insert hidden spam(one on stanford university, the other on shoemoney blog). I know I was a victim of a exploit in 2.3.2, but that was fixed in 2.3.3. 2.5 release candidates I don’t think would solve it because they are just adding new features. I hope they fix these new exploits soon in a future 2.3.4 patch release.

Sounds good, I hope that we won’t need to completely overhaul our websites in order to make things work with the new version of WordPress. Thanks for the briefing update

Wordpress says that it shouldn’t effect themes, but might effect plugins that require you to change options in the admin panel. There is a lot of good plugins out there that use the admin panel though, so it would effect most of them probably.

I haven’t thought of using Word Press for non blog websites but it sounds like a good idea. Do you have an example?

Im gonna have to discuss that more in the future about setting up wordpress as a CMS. I sort of did it on my own without looking around at the time for examples because I enjoyed wordpress so much, I just used it for all my sites.

They just released 2.5 officially today. You can now download it.

wordpress if its hosted on your own domain. But not the wordpress.com free blog hosting since they don’t allow advertising.
