I upgraded my wordpress software from 2.3.3 to 2.5 and thought I would share my experience. You should also read my other new post Best Way to Upgrade Wordpress, for the most convenient way to update your wordpress.

I have 13 different wordpress themes and I use 5 different themes and an array of plugins. Most plugins will work with 2.5, but you should check this list to be sure. Some of the plugins i use on this site and/or my others are: recent comments, wp contact form, contextual related posts, text link ads, askimet, tantan, and dofollow. All of these plugins still work O.K for me on 2.5.

One recommendation I *highly recommend* before you upgrade to 2.5. I did a test installation on a hidden directory with 2.5 and installed all my plugins and themes. I wanted to make sure all my themes and plugins worked on the TEST installation of 2.5 before I put it on the real website. It might be a little extra work, but 2.5 has some changes in it that might effect some plugins or themes. The last thing you want is to upgrade and not get your plugins or themes all working.
