How To Backup Your Wordpress Database
So you been working on your website for a few weeks. You now got your blog or forum going. You been holding off learning how to use or backup a database. Now it is time to start thinking about backing up your database. You may not feel the need, because you believe your host will back it up for you. However, there have been instances where hosting companies have suspended people’s accounts and not given a backup copy of the database.
Besides if you have a very successful site, you won’t want to wait around for the hosting company. If you plan on making a career out of being a webmaster, learning how to backup and move your site is necessary. Fortunately, it isn’t difficult at all. Although this backup guide covers wordpress blog software only, the principles are pretty similiar whether it’s wordpress or forum or any other kind of software. It’s a great tutorial for learning how to backup your database across many different web hosting platforms including Cpanel.

I also want to emphasis this important point in blogging. As with most bloggers, we do not do the important backup and if something unfortunate happens where we need the backup and can’t get it, then we realize the value.
Unfortunately I have been there.

I am having a terrible time with WordPress.
Our students at the college are finding that even to disagree with a wordpress blog owner is to risk being white paged.
I mean, that isn’t the purpose of white paging, but it is becoming a problem for us here.
If word spreads too much more at the college, no one using wordpress will be getting any interest from the students, and that would be a shame because there are lots of talented people like you who shouldn’t be disadvantaged by the platform you choose.
Akismet is way to anxious to ban folks. This is similar to the reputation Digg has for dropping the sword of Damocles with the smallest provocation.

I am wondering how many words are blocked by this system.
This is sort of in the spirit of Akismet. Almost anything will get a message blocked.
For example, I just had a message on this site blocked because I used the word “college.”
I mean “college!!!” What possible reason would someone have for blocking that word?
I am finding the more I deal with Wordpress and its fans that “blocking” is their favorite word. I wager, the “blocking” “banning” and “white paging” are perfectly OK.
I’ll see when I press the add comment button.

Wau…that is extensive. I wish it was as easy as backing up normal sites, where I just keep a copy of all the files on my harddrive.
But, I guess that is the price we have to pay for an excellent content management system.
