Good idea to use Google Search on website?
Many bloggers use the Google Search button instead of the original search button on their blogs.
Google Search is really a terrible searcher. Google will only find posts that have been indexed. It also won’t find a lot of keywords you are looking for inside your actual blog posts. The original search button on wordpress works much better and you don’t have to worry if the page is indexed in Google.
I also have a problem with the aesthetics and overcommercialization of the idea behind Google Search on a website, but I’m sure some would disagree with me on that. Out of the many sites I own, I only use it on one because Adsense is the only thing that works well on the site, so I figured I might as well have the search on it too.

I think that you are indeed on the right path with adding Google Search functionality to your website. Google claims that it is essential for building traffic and revenue, but it may not be THAT important. Regardless, I feel that it is a nice upgrade that people should definitely consider

I agree. The Google search doesn’t pick up your whole site and where I’ve tested it, it hasn’t converted too well. I’d rather use the WordPress search and put Adsense ads on the pages if that’s the way I’m going to monetize.

For the one site I have google search on so far its got a 7.5% click through rate. Although that is only after about 15 searches, but even if it drops a lot for the click through rate over time, that is still far above my normal adsense rate. All in all, I still won’t put it on any of my other sites.

I actually like google search. If you make sure to use the sitemaps plugin, then google indexes your page very quickly, so having posts that aren’t searched isn’t usually a problem. In addition, you can customize where the google search shows up, so you could put it in a nice clean blog page.
I kind of figure that google is the leader in searching, so I might as well let them do it. For my blogs, i’ve seen about 30% of my adsense revenue come from the search

I also thinking about using google search for my blog.I thought that using google’s search button will giv eme extra profit, isn’t that right?

Yes it will give you extra profit. I got a higher click through rate from it than traditional ads. The downside is that it is ugly and it does a lousy job of searching. It won’t make much of a difference in your income either way because not that many people will wind up searching and clicking on ads.

I don’t like the Google search bar, i used to have it on one of my wordpress blogs and didn’t really like it, now have the original wordpress one back, much better!
