Consistency as a Webmaster is Needed to Reach Your Dreams
This is going to be my first post for my new personal development category. So many of my fellow bloggers out there talk about SEO, web design, affiliate, news, etc. But what good is that all, if there is no help with the human element?
Consistency is the main reason why some people fail and others succeed in making a career as a webmaster, or for that matter, any goal they set. Many people when they start a website, get only a few unique visitors a day at first. They start writing content, and it barely increases. So, they start reading blogs like Dollars Blog to get some tips on how to make more progress. They follow all my helpful advice. They start moving in a positive direction and are starting to see good results…. and then it suddenly stops.
It stops because they don’t have the “time” anymore or because they are suffering “writers block”. And what might have been planned as a temporary break, soon becomes a unplanned permanent one. You see it all the time with people when setting long term goals. Whether it be getting fit, or dieting, or learning a musical instrument. People have a hard time sticking to their goals. It is part of our nature.
Everytime I make a blog post, it only gets a few extra hits in the search engines. It can be depressing knowing that I can put my heart and soul into a blog post, but very few people will see it. But I know that if I keep on making blog posts day after day that it will add up. Over the course of a year if I made one blog post a day, that would be 365 posts I now have. And 365 well written original posts can bring in significant traffic. In addition, 2 or 3 of those articles I wrote months ago, may get noticed by some very popular bloggers.
The longer you work on your website, the more easier it will come to you. Whether it’s losing weight or building up a website, it’s always the hardest to do in the beginning. You have to train your mind until it becomes a good habit. In the beginning your mind will be telling you all kinds of negative things. Us humans can be strange, we like to self-destruct ourselves with our own negative thoughts. Expect a lot of self-doubt in the beginning when trying to acheive your goal.
The longer you have your website, the less time you will need to spend on it. The first few months you will be learning and building a base. You will be working on many things such as design, promotion, SEO, and content. After the first few months is when things get much easier. By then, it will be mainly content writing. You can than just devote 15 minutes to a couple hours, each day on your website once you have learned the ropes of building a solid website.
If you are having trouble finding the time or motivation, then figure out what you need to change in your lifestyle so you can get it done. But of course, everyone lives in the now. They don’t want to be consistent. They are looking for a shortcut.
Well, there is no shortcuts if you want to make a living blogging, sorry. If you want someone to tell you that, then leave this site. I’m writing for a serious audience. It’s time you make your choice, are you in this for the long haul day after day, or are you a quitter?

Consistency is good, but I prefer focus, consistency is like making yourself to do something well consistent while focus is like aiming that activities to one destination or goal.

I believe the word used to summarize here is Perseverance. Thanks for putting down what so many go through.

Content is King. I really think you nailed it here. If you are not disciplined, then I think you are doomed to failure. A daily – or at least weekly – commmittment is necessary.

Consistency takes discipline. I find it helps to schedule a time every day to write… even if I don’t want to. That makes all the difference.

What you talk about here is really a lesson for all writers, not just those blogging. In fact, I think most people could do with a reminder of what you call consistency. Persistence, focus and discipline – that always pays off in the end.
