Web based RSS feed readers are a homepage where you can monitor multiple feeds you are subscribed to. Unlike most other software feed readers, you don’t have to pay a one time or monthly fee. You also don’t need to download any software. It is also treated as a online bookmarking for some, since you can access subscribed feeds from any computer just by logging into your account online.

There are web based RSS feed readers from Google and Yahoo and others. I noticed a lot of bloggers had the blogline bookmark button on their blogs, so I decided to check it out. It turns out Bloglines is a free web based RSS feed reader. Bloglines is also a feed search engine, that grabs feeds automatically from a variety of sources for it’s search engine. If you see something you like during their search engine, you can just subscribe to that feed. Publishers can “claim” their blog for the directory, so they have control over their feed, just like you can claim it in Technorati.
